Defunct

[edit]

Amiga inc is defunct.

Website is defunct, while company sold rights to Commodore USA to sell PC as Commodore Amiga, creating great confusion. What a last move! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.175.110.58 (talk)

No, its not and there is another move

The above statements are partially correct: Amiga, Inc. never licensed or sold any rights to "Commodore USA" (that was "fake news"). However, they did sell the IP (as originally advertised via Pluritas and others), which went to Amiga Corporation in February 2019, per the sources cited in the main article as of 2020-07-29. The new company also owns the amiga.com website. Hi-Toro (talk) 12:03, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Commodore USA, LLC never had a license for using the "Commodore" brand. In 2010 they claimed to have reached a trademark licensing agreement with Asiarim Corporation, however in 2013 a court ruled that C=Holdings BV, and not Asiarim Corp., was the only party that could have granted such a license. While it is sad that the company ended with the dead of Barry Altman in 2012, it always had fundamental issues in its use of IP. It had a rough start with its unlicensed use of fan 3D art, and never obtained the proper licenses for either "Commodore" or "Amiga". IMHO it is not notable to be mentioned here.
