Alice Dayrell Caldeira Brant
[edit]This article has a large content gap; it only has brief biography of Brant. I would like to add more about her diary and create a more extensive biography. This article has no posts on the talk page, giving me a lot of possibilities for this page. This page will improve the coverage of Brazil by the inclusion of youth author. Her diary also gives historians a view into 1890’s life in Brazil therefore making her coverage on Wikipedia important. Knit buffalo (talk) 14:12, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
Plan for site
[edit]For this site I hope to enhance the description of Brant's life and add a section on her diary. I am still having some difficulty finding sources in english, the majority of them are in Portuguese. One of the sources I found is secondary, it is a newspaper article that reviews her diary[1]" /></ref>. The only primary source I was able to find is a translated version of Brant's diary itself[2]. Another, secondary site is a scholarly article that reviews the diary[3].

Maria’s peer review
[edit]The plan for this site seems solid. Since the state of the current article does not talk a lot about the diary itself or why it was important to Brazilian society, I think it is a good idea to expand on that. There is also a content gap on her biography so adding more detail there is also a good idea. I would suggest to expand on the idea of her as a social figure as the current article mentions this but does not talk about it in more detail.
Additionally, in order to improve the article I would work on a better lead. The current lead states that Alice Dayrell Caldeira Brant is a juvenile writer, but does not elaborate on further importance. A suggestion could be stating what type of literature she wrote and how it impacted society. This would lead to an improvement as a good Wikipedia article has a good lead. In the talk page you state that it gives a view into 1890’s life in Brazil, which would be a good thing to add in the lead. Lastly, three links did not work and the ones that did were in Portuguese. I assume that these souces supported the claims in the article. Theses sources seemed reliable and neutral. However, one of the sources are from 1957 and newer sources could be used. Thus, I would suggest looking for more primary and secondary sources for the article. Mariaa45 (talk) 18:49, 1 March 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you Maria for your comments! They will be of great use when making changes to the site. I did not realize that one of the links was bad thank you for pointing it out to me. I really like your ideas about the lead and further implications of her diary. I was not certain how much I should discuss her work since the page is about her not just the diary. I am trying to find sources that are current and I am having minimal luck the only current ones I could find were in my original post on the talk page. Thanks again! Kennedey Peer Review
[edit]I think this is a good plan to begin with, hoping that you get the proper and a large amount of sources. I think it will be important to discuss, as Maria said, why the diary was important; this could be a section on reception of the novel. Her husband told her to publish it for a reason, and the French novelist liked it, so it clearly meant something to people. Why is the town itself important? Or did that not matter? I think it is important to discuss more of her role in Brazilian life. The article is for her yet discusses about her daughter and husband more. I cannot believe that pictures of her do not exist, so I would add that to the box on the side.
On a technical side, the article needs a lot added. More than a one-sentence lead, several more sections, and significantly more references so that she can be proved as "notable" under Wikipedia standards.
I think that you are off to a good start, and I hope that you find more references in English. I cannot wait to see the improved article.

- Hello! Thank you for your thoughts on my plans for this article! I would really love to be able to make this article "Noteable" currently it depends on the number of sources that I am able to find. Hopefully I am able to find more and am able to increase the amount of information on the page. Thank you for the inclusion of leading questions in your response they will be quite helpful in shaping my article. Thanks again! Knit buffalo (talk) 22:21, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
Great ideas here! One more resource that may be useful is Wikipedia:Writing_about_women. Katherine.Holt (talk) 17:52, 6 March 2018 (UTC)
Maria’s Second Peer Review
[edit]This Wikipedia page looks good! I just edited some punctuation and spelling errors as well as added some internal links for Rio de Janeiro, diary, and the name of that one French novelist. One recommendation is to add a picture through Wikicommons, as I think it is a requirement for this assignment. Lastly, maybe reread the article and make sure the sentences flow. Content-wise it is good though and it is written in a neutral tone! Mariaa45 (talk) 14:45, 1 April 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you for your edits! I was looking for a photo in Wikicommons and there is not one of her or the book which is why I did not include a photo. I will work on the flow for the final version. Thanks again! Knit buffalo (talk) 17:23, 2 April 2018 (UTC)
Kennedey Peer Review 2
[edit]Good draft! All that I can say is maybe expand on the reception of her novel? I am not sure how much information is out there, but I would expand upon what you can find. If you cannot find a picture of Alice, I would add a picture of the diary or of the town itself. Good start. Kbell21 (talk) 01:00, 2 April 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you for your comments and the time to read my article! As I said in the previous comment I can't find a photo of Brant I will look into a photo of the town. I will also look for more on how her work was received what I currently have there is very little, but I'll keep looking. Thanks again for your suggestions Knit buffalo (talk) 17:27, 2 April 2018 (UTC)
