[edit]I don't know if I am a reliable source in Wikipedia's mind but Alfred is my great-grandfather so I think it would be hard to find too many people who have researched him as thoroughly as I have! Kerry (talk) 08:55, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
Well it is very informative to say the least. It's a pity his gravestone is now unreadable though.
- Moral of the story is leave a note in your will that you don't want a granite headstone. They look good intially but do not stand the test of time very well. Ditto sandstone. Marble is excellent. Kerry (talk) 07:28, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
I am also a great-granddaughter of Alfred. My father (Evelyn's son) tells me that that Alfred's older daughter Evelyn was Alfred's driver - although it is very possible that Ethel took over this job once she married John Norman Radcliffe in 1920. He also tells me that Alfred did not lose his whole hand but lost his thumb and third and fourth fingers and the half of the remaining index and second fingers. He was still able to rig a fishing line with the bits of hand he still had left (much to my Dad's amazement) but he could not drive a car. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Raddyb20 (talk • contribs) 08:38, 5 March 2016 (UTC)
