Could we have a map showing the gaue? [1] is already on the wiki upload database. RND

List not accurate for 1939

[edit]

I don't have time to clear this up at the moment, but the list says it is as of 1939. However, Austria had been incorporated into Germany the year before, with a batch of newe Gaue added. 153.106.59.246 16:02, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

definitely, site in need of correction: "Kattowitz" was in 1939 a Polish city "Katowice"; if we were to write about the end of 1939, when "Kattowitz" have already been anexed, e.g. Wartegau should be added too.

Thank you for stubbing this artcile, Piotrus. Yet, there already is a List of Gaue of Nazi Germany, which is in fact not a list, but has the information you put in here included also (and sourced). The title you chose is the better one - for consistency with similar articles, and because articles should only be named "List of..." if it actually is a (plain) list. From the content point of view, the other article is far more developed (no offense, you just stubbed this one yesterday). So I propose you

  1. have a close look if really everything in here is in List of Gaue of Nazi Germany, too
  2. if necessary, merge the missing stuff from here to List of Gaue of Nazi Germany
  3. speedy delete this one
  4. move List of Gaue of Nazi Germany here

Thoughts? Skäpperöd (talk) 10:06, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I support merger into here; the histories of both articles can be merged too. If you can merge the article to here, I'll make sure that the histories are merged as well. We do need the article describing the historical Länders, too. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 11:50, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I'll import the whole article List of Gaue of Nazi Germany in one single cut, regardless of format and without merging any redundant text/sections etc, to define the point up to which the edit history of List of Gaue of Nazi Germany applies. In a second step, I will do the actual merging, this being the starting point of the "new" combined article. Skäpperöd (talk) 15:42, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Skäpperöd (talk) 18:28, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
History merge done. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 19:51, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

(outdent) Thank you. Regarding an additional Länder section: I stubbed Administrative division of Weimar Germany and linked it from this article. I think this article can do without a copy of this list, as the relationship Gau-Länder is explained already (not in thourough sufficiency, but enough to get a clear picture). States under Nazi Germany

[edit]

More than half of the article "States of the Weimar Republic" is in the section "States under Nazi Germany". That material clearly doesn't belong there, and it seems to me that this article would be the best place for it.

I don't want to just copy it here, though, because I have only minimal knowledge of the Nazi period. So I would greatly appreciate someone stepping in and removing it from "States of the Weimar Republic" and putting where it would fit better.

Thanks! GHStPaulMN (talk) 12:18, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Since I didn't get any response, I deleted the Nazi Germany section from States of the Weimar Republic when I updated it today. If anyone wants to get it back, it's in that article's history. GHStPaulMN (talk) 14:28, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
