Merge
[edit]This should be merged with Battle of Cape St. Vincent (1780). Discuss. Magic♪piano 17:56, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
- I agree with you. This article would be better merged with Battle of Cape St. Vincent (1780). Pietje96 (talk) 21:14, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
- I'd be inclined to leave them. The two actions are distinct, and this one is strategically of note in itself, in depriving the Spanish of supplies, and then delivering them to Gibraltar, as well as the capture of several Spanish warships, including at least one which was brought into the Royal Navy. The action is referred to in many histories of the siege, though it is overshadowed by Rodney's victory over Langara a week later. Doesn't seem a reason not to have an article on it though, we have plenty on single ship actions, and other convoy battles. Benea (talk) 01:41, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- I proposed this for merger because I'm wondering whether there is really enough documentation to describe the action, rather than just its outcome. It's clearly worth mentioning -- is it worth an entire article? Magic♪piano 02:07, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- Agreed with Benea (talk), as an action it stands on it's own. It shouldn't be merged at all. Cape St Vincent was fought 8 days later. Bruichladdich1 (talk) 21:36, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
