The West County portion of Sonoma County, California, has experienced a significant economic and cultural change over the decades following the 1970s. Specifically, the range of agricultural products that once supported the area has largely been supplanted by wine grapes. Ace Cider/California Cider Co. is a notable entity insofar as its existence and success (as demonstrated by rapid sales growth in the years prior to 2013) bucks the trend of the "homogenization" of the county's economy, i.e. the domination of the county's agriculture by the production of wine grapes.
