Norton Sound
[edit]DANFS notes that USS Norton Sound (AVM-1) was the testbed for the Typhon Weapon Control System (which has to mean the AN/SPG-59). This image and this image seem to show the radar system, a massive addition to the ship above the bridge. The images have to be public domain since they must have been shot by USN personnel, though it doesn't seem wise to upload the images without checking first. The Norton Sound was later used to test Aegis and the AN/SPY-1 system and well as the Mark-86 gun fire control system with the AN/SPQ-9, both systems still used today and shown in the pictures in wikipedia's Norton Sound article.. --Dual Freq 23:25, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Sections
[edit]I put sections in to the document to make it more structured. I also removed the SCANFAR reference because I am certain that SCANFAR was unrelated to Typhon. --Two way time (talk) 06:20, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
