"Family" in Infobox
[edit]the "Family" in the Infobox (sporting "81-") does not have any informational value. In Soviet times, certain product groups received codes. "81" is the code for metro cars (subway carriages), "71" for example is the code for trams, etc.
The first number after that is a reference to the manufacturer, in this case "7" (from "81-740"), the rest is the product code (which is in most cases a consecutive model number). With trams (which I am more familiar with) you have (for example) 71-605 (with the "6" standing for the factory in Ust-Katav, the "05" standing for the series), 71-407 (with the "7" standing for the Uraltransmash in Yekaterinburg), PTSM in Saint Petersburg had 71-134 (so the number "1" for its manufacturer code)... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:8003:4E4F:6400:E4AC:7AB7:7C8F:6C51 (talk) 12:39, 20 June 2019 (UTC)
