I don't know, with 100% certain, how this 4-nitrophenol is produced, but I thisn using nitric acid and phenol, we could produce 4-nitrophenol:

HNO3 + C6H6O(Phenol) ----> C6H5NO2 (4-nitrophenol) + H2O(water) Agre22 (talk) 22:21, 13 July 2008 (UTC)agre22[reply]
