Political parties

[edit]

Political parties do not have a formal role in local government in Western Australia. Many councillors's political affiliations are not known, and many do not have any political affiliations. It is a bad idea to focus this article on the political parties. What's especially bad is the infobox, which shows state political leaders which are entirely uninvolved from local government, and did not campaign or endorse any local government candidates. It is improper to involve those state politicians who have nothing to do with local government. Steelkamp (talk) 23:01, 26 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Understand your point here but despite them presenting as "non-partisan" it's not like they're immune from having political involvement
Greens officially endorsed two candidates (with 1 victory), the Aus Christians backed their successful candidate and the No Mandatory Vax candidate is the party's founder, so there is obviously an affiliation
Labor also promoted all their members running for council: https://mailchi.mp/walabor.org.au/members-bulletin-230929?e=f271591bdf Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 23:12, 26 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I strongly object to having state political leaders in the infobox when they have nothing to do with local government.
I strongly object to having a table of how each political party went as there is no way it can ever become complete, seeing as there is no comprehensive list anywhere of the political affiliations of every councillor in WA.
If there are reliable sources showing a political party explicitly endorsed someone, then that could be added as a comment in prose. Steelkamp (talk) 23:19, 26 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
1. Fair call
2. I disagree about completion, as I said WA Labor plainly stated every one of its members running for council, and the councils have disclosure documents that can be done up which make it clear
3. Sure Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 23:42, 26 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
