same old system

[edit]

The 1971 elections to select inductees to the Baseball Hall of Fame followed the same system in use since 1968.

They appointed a committee on the Negro Leagues and inducted Satchel Paige! --P64 (talk) 18:05, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For the New York Times coverage, begin with the 1971-02-10 stories by Joe Durso and Arthur Daley, featuring the appointment of a committee on Negro Leagues and yesterday's election of Paige. The episode continued regarding how Paige (and others, later) would be honored and it ended with his August induction into the Hall of Fame itself rather than any special exhibit at the National Baseball Museum and HOF. --P64 (talk) 01:20, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
