Silka is a Philippine skin care brand owned by Cosmetique Asia Corporation.[1] It was introduced as a papaya soap brand in 2001.[2]
History
[edit]On September 7, 2001, Alexander Co founded Cosmetique Asia Corporation and introduced its own skin care brand, Silka.[1] It launched the Papaya whitening herbal soap and lotion variants. A year later, it also launched the Papaya whitening body wash variant.[2]
In 2003, the brand launched the Green papaya whitening herbal soap and lotion variants, followed by the Papaya facial cleansers and deodorants in 2004, and Papaya whitening pearl cream in 2006.[2]
Ahead of its 20th anniversary in 2021, the brand introduced the facial care set including micellar water, day and night cream, and foaming face wash.[3]

Sponsorships
[edit]Silka has sponsored many of national beauty pageants, including Binibining Pilipinas and Miss World Philippines, one of the main sponsors of beauty pageant candidates from 2021 until 2022.[4] In 2023, the brand launched its own beauty pageant competition, Binibining Silka, in collaboration with ABS-CBN Corporation.[5]
