Sarah Ahmad (Urdu: سارہ احمد; born 17 November 1986) is a Pakistani politician and child rights activist.[1] She has been a chairperson of the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau in Punjab since 8 February, 2019 and a member of the Punjab Provincial Assembly since 2024, elected to one of the seats reserved for women from the province. She is a Chairperson of the Child Protection Welfare Bureau of the Government of The Punjab.[2] Sarah Ahmad represented Pakistan at the United Nations Conference on Violence Against Children, held on 19 September 2023, in New York.[3][4][5][6][7]

Recognitions and awards

In 2022, she received the Global Collaborative Award in Rome, Italy, for her advocacy against child sexual abuse in Pakistan.[8]

In March 2024, she was presented with Pakistan’s Woman of Courage Award by Donald Blome, the United States Ambassador to Pakistan.[9] Ahmed is the first Pakistani woman to receive it.[10]

On 23 March 2024, she received Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, a state-organized honor in Pakistan awarded to civilians and military officers for achievements and services to the state.[11][12]
