- Sept 10: The Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev leaves today for a visit to India under the invitation of his Indian colleague Pratibha Devisingh Patil, making this the first visit of a Bulgarian prime minister to an Asian country since 1974.
- Sept 6: The Transport Ministry signed two deals with Italy's Astaldi and France's Thales and Alcatel Lucent, worth a combined EUR 198,1 M, to upgrade a key stretch of the country's railroad infrastructure, linking Parvomay in southern Bulgaria to the border with Greece and Turkey near Svilengrad.
- Sept 5: A special panel investigating Bulgaria's communist-era police files announced Tuesday that the country's president Georgi Parvanov, a coalition party head and 19 current parliamentarians all once collaborated with the secret services.
- Sept 4: Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Ivailo Kalfin meets his Kazakh counterpart Marat Tazhin in Astana, Kazakhstan, to discuss opportunities for bilateral cooperation in power production, transport, economy and tourism.

- Sept 3: Archaeologists have found the oldest necropolis ever discovered in Bulgaria, from the latter part of the 7th century, near the town of Balchik.
- Sept 1: Bulgarian authorities have begun questioning five Bulgarian nurses over alleged torture procedures used by Libyan officials in the HIV trials.
