It is the prequel of the 2013 game Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas and takes place a millennium before the events of the game. A port for Nintendo Switch of Oceanhorn 2 was released on October 28, 2020.[2] A version for next-gen consoles and PC was announced, to be published in partnership with FDG Entertainment.[3]

The gameplay and graphic design of Oceanhorn 2 closely follows that of The Legend of Zelda video games, with the gameplay taking after the long line of linear games from the history of the saga and the art style bearing a close resemblance to Breath of the Wild.[4]

Story

[edit]

On a stormy night, Master Mayfair is given a child by a warlock named Mesmeroth, in request of being in good care.

Years later, the main character, Hero, now an adult, arrives at Outcast Island, after his first adventure and defeated a cephalopod-like Galactoss, Hero manage retrieved a lockbox which is necessary to be a knight. Back to his town, Arne Village. Hero continues his training with the help of his robot friend Gen along with Master Mayfair; he later meets Trin at her crashed aircraft, the Yellow Bird in Warden Woods, while taking her to back to the town. There, Dark Troopers invade the village, searching for Trin.

Hero, Trin, Mayfair and Gen escape to White City from Sernoa Station. where they learn and thought Mesmeroth is planning to steal the throne and rule over Arcadia. To prevent this, the Arcadian knights start their journey to return the three Sacred Emblems of Sun, Earth and Ocean to the beacons. Along the way to return the Sacred Emblems, the knights encountered and helped out other races while dealing bosses and obstacles throughout Arcadia such as Pirta and Submeria. On their way back to the White City, Mesmeroth and his Dark Troopers attack Submeria with airships and an armada. To defend herself, Trin awakens the Oceanhorn, one of three powerful living fortress which Archimedes invented." Hero, Gen and Master Mayfair infiltrate the command ship of the armada. Upon reaching the bridge, Mesmeroth reveals that Gen is his dark servant and teleports away and recommended them go to the crypt in Faroah. At the White City, where Archimedes, the leader of Arcadia, asks them to find and return the Emblem of Sun to the Source in order to finish his project to save Arcadia. Unfortunately the mission failed when the Knights were already ambushed and imprisoned in the Riskbourne Citadel. Hero eventually retrieved his possessions and confronts Mesmeroth and receives the Emblem of Sun, but Mesmeroth escapes and continues his plan to overthrow Arcadia; in which he discovers a great power named Triloth, to which a malevolent divine being The Shadow told him before. The knights travel back to White City, where Mayfair evacuates Arcadian citizens. In a preparation to face Triloth. Hero and Trin sucked into Triloth while onboard Oceanhorn. They eventually landed in Tranquility where they meet The Great Chronicler, who offers them a chance to survive and brought them back to Gaia. As the knights witness Triloth strikes, meanwhile in the Grand Core, Archimedes confronts Mesmeroth by turning on the main control while Mesmeroth morphs into Anima Orb by his own magic, he reveals that Hero and Trin never returned the emblem of sun to the source beacon and claimed he slained the Shadowmaga back then, ruining archimedes's plot to launch the white city into space, while completely destroying the outside world . The White City is completely in shambles. Oceanhorn becomes uncontrollable, causing it to attack the Knights. Hero and Trin then forced to fight Oceanhorn, temporarly weakening it enough to escape while Oceanhorn wanders in confusion.

During and After the credits, Hero and Trin escaped and reunite with Mayfair, the Owrus and the Gillfolks recovered and safeguards the Emblem of Earth and Ocean while the Emblem of Sun, which is now apparently lost for millennia. Many years later in one corner of the shattered world, Mayfair is seen carrying a child and watches on while Oceanhorn gone underwater, desperately searching. It is implyed that Hero was killed later by Oceanhorn, as in the outro cutscene, Master Mayfair knockes over a wooden figure of Hero, which is depicted as fighting another wooden figurine of Oceanhorn. the child is most likely of Hero and Trin.
