Melanoides victoriae is a species of a freshwater snail, a gastropod in the Thiaridae family.[2]
Distribution
[edit]The type locality is "the rapids above the Victoria Falls of the Zambezi",[1] Zambezi River at Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.[2]
Melanoides victoriae is endemic to Southern Africa, and the species distribution includes:
- Botswana[3]
- South Africa[2]
- Zambezi River, Zimbabwe[2]
- East Caprivi and Okavango River in north-eastern Namibia[2]
- Cunene River[2]
Description
[edit]The width of the shell is 10 mm.[2] The height of the shell is 29 mm.[2]
