Mainnet

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mainnet (short for main network) is the fully operational version of a blockchain where real transactions occur, as opposed to a testnet. It is secured through consensus mechanisms like Proof of Work (PoW) or Proof of Stake (PoS) and supports smart contracts, token transfers, and decentralized applications.[1]

A mainnet launch marks the transition from a testnet to a live blockchain, involving security audits, network deployment, and token migration.[2]
