Maemo Leste is a free and open-source mobile operating system,[1] as a mobile Linux distribution. It is based on Devuan[2] plus Maemo components, for smartphones, tablets and electronic devices.[3] It is totally independent of Android.
History
[edit]Initiated in 2018 by Ivan Jelincic and Merlijn Wajer,[4] the project aims to reuse the Maemo components, toward the most FOSS environment.[5] It is public are the OSS communities.
Funding
[edit]Maemo Leste is partly financed by the EU funds NGI[6] and NLNet.[7]
Functioning
[edit]Maemo Leste is based on Devuan, with mainline kernel; it is used with the Hildon GUI, to bring back users the Maemo 5 "Fremantle" experience.[8]
