Khaleda Manzoor-e-Khuda (1932 – 25 March 2023)[1] was a Bangladeshi activist. She was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2023 for her contribution to the Bengali language movement.[2]

Background and career

Manzoor was born in 1932 in Kazipara in the then 24 Parganas, Bengal Presidency, British India (now in North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal, India).[1] She graduated with a degree in philosophy from the University of Dhaka.[3]

During the Bengali language movement on 21 February 1952, she ran efforts in running a blood drive for the injured protesters at a procession outside Dhaka Medical College Hospital.[3] She served as a director women's issues-centric programmes on Pakistan Radio and Pakistan Television in the 1950s.

Manzoor established a finishing school, Grihini Shilpokola Academy.[3] She was a permanent member of Bangla Academy. In 2005, she was awarded the Lekhika Sangha Gold Medal for her contributions to writing.[3]

Manzoor established a gold medal award to outstanding students at the department of philosophy at the University of Dhaka.[3]

Manzoor was a daughter-in-law of Muhammad Qudrat-i-Khuda, a Bangladeshi scientist and educator.[citation needed] She had a son and three daughters including Nausheen and Shama.[4][5]
