DescriptionSex Salon editorial in Word of Mouth Magazine by Ladislav Czernek, 1989.tif
English: This editorial, published in Word of Mouth Magazine by Ladislav Czernek, is indicative of the neighborhood-friendly, participatory culture emerging in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in the late 1980s and early 1990s. A gathering of artists, performers and musicians at Epoché resulted in the collective formulation of The Sex Salon, announced in this editorial, which established the Brooklyn neighborhood as an early advocate for sexual diversity. Nearly 100 artists, musicians, performers, poets and filmmakers participated in the salon. Representatives of the Immersionist scene were among the creators of The Sex Salon, including Minor Injury Gallery, the Lizard’s Tail, Nerve Circle, Versus, Waterfront Week, Word of Mouth (later Worm), and Waterfront Week.
