Yana Ivanova Deliradeva is a Bulgarian choral conductor, music teacher and lecturer...[1] at the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts[2] in Plovdiv.
Biography
[edit]Yana Deliradeva graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv with a specialty in Pedagogy of Music Education in 1996. She specialized in choral conducting at the National Academy of Music "Pancho Vladigerov" in Sofia in 1996 with prof. Nikola Lipov and prof. Georgi Robev[3]
In 2001 she received a Master's degree in choral conducting from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, USA, in the class of Prof. Joseph Flummerfelt. From 2000 to 2002, he worked as Assistant Conductor of the Westminster Conservatoire Choir.[4][5]
In 2002 she joined The "Detska Kitka" choir[6], led by her mother Zlatina Deliradeva, as an assistant conductor, and since 2011 she has been directing most of its concert performances. She teaches choral conducting at the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts (also known as AMTII) in Plovdiv. Since 2018 he has also worked as a vocal teacher at the Children's Academy of Plovdiv's opera[7]
Honours
[edit]She is a two-time winner[8][9] of the award named after Veneta Vicheva for the best conductor at the 23rd and 27th International Festival for Children and Youth Choirs "Dobri Voynikov" in Shumen, the award for the best conductor at the 7th International Choral Festival " Chernomorski zvuci"[10] in Balchik, "Golden Lyre" of the Union of Bulgarian Music and Dance Artists, nominated in 2023 for the Plovdiv award[11]
Under the guidance of Yana Deliradeva in 2013 The "Detska Kitka" choir won the Silver Medal and the Special Award for the performance of a play composed after 1990, International Youth Choir Festival in Celje, Slovenia, 1st prize in the category "Children's and Youth Choirs", as well as the UBC Award for the best performance of a song by a Bulgarian composer at the VII International Choir Festival "Chernomorski Zvuci" in Balchik, Bulgaria (2017), Gold Medal at the IX World Peace Choir Festival in Vienna, Austria (2018). She realized a successful tour in Japan, which is also the first extra-European tour in the choir's history.

Her work with the Detska Kitka Choir aims at building new audiences through exploring new repertoire and collaborating with artists from different fields, while adhering to the tradition of technical and artistic excellence established by the choir’s previous conductors. Yana has taken the lead in leading workshops in Bulgaria, Sweden, Serbia and the United States[12][13]. She is the recipient of prestigious awards for her work and is acknowledged for her encouragement of upcoming conductors and introduction of innovative methods in Bulgarian conducting.[14][15] Presently, she is working on her dissertation, entitled “Implementation of Body Methods in the Rehearsal Process with Children Choirs”.
