Tidsreiser is a company based in Bergen, Norway that organises live-action roleplaying games (larps) for children. Their most popular larps are Trolldomsakademiet (Norwegian for wizarding academy), a wizarding academy usually lasting for a weekend, and Eventyrspill (adventure games), where children roleplay as dwarves, elves and humans in the forests by the mountain Løvstakken. Tidsreiser was established in 2007 by Anders Riple.[1]
Eventyrspill (adventure games)
[edit]Eventyrspill is an outdoor larp held on Saturday afternoons where children roleplay in a Tolkienish world, with opportunities for grand battles with latex swords or social problem solving. The game started in Bergen but is also held in Oslo[2] and other towns.[3]
Trolldomsakademiet (Wizarding Academy)
[edit]The first academy was held in 2016.[4] Trolldomsakademiet is usually held in a local school on the weekend. After a ceremony where they are sorted into houses (Scorpio, Tarius and Shadavar)[4], children take classes in subjects like magical creatures, demonology and potion-mixing, with optional classes such as chocolate therapy.[1] The academy has also been held as a school holiday event sponsored by the local council.[5] and in other Norwegian towns including Oslo, Trondheim and Stavanger.[6] A UK version has been run as Dragondale Wizarding Academy.[7]
Other events
[edit]Tidsreiser have also offered larps for other organisations, including a post-apocalyptic larp for 14-year-olds in the Norwegian Humanist Association.[8]
