- Comment: A great majority of the sources are announcements and they do not support notability. See WP:NMUSIC Flat Out (talk) 10:11, 24 January 2025 (UTC)
- Comment: Music announcements doesn't justify notability. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 19:04, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
- Comment: Reading about this album genuinely interested me. If you can cite sources for the first part of the "Background" section and the first line of the "Recording and production" section, this can be published. Beachweak (talk) 00:26, 14 January 2025 (UTC)

The Overview is the eighth studio album by British musician Steven Wilson, due to be released on 14 March 2025 via Fiction Records.[1][2]
Background
[edit]The Overview was inspired by the "overview effect" experienced by astronauts looking back at Earth from space, leading to a profound cognitive shift.[3][4] Wilson explored this concept through two extended compositions, "Objects Outlive Us" and the titular track "The Overview".[5] The album marks a return to a more progressive style for Wilson, integrating elements from his previous works while pushing new boundaries in sound and narrative.[6][7]
Recording and production
[edit]The album was written, produced, and mixed by Wilson.[8][9][10] It features contributions from regular collaborators including Craig Blundell on drums, Adam Holzman on keyboards, and Randy McStine on guitars. Lyrics for one track were provided by XTC's Andy Partridge.[11]
Music and lyrics
[edit]"The Overview" comprises two tracks, each segmented into various musical "movements". The album's thematic focus is on the human experience viewed from space, highlighting both the beauty and the fragility of Earth and humanity.[12]
Release
[edit]The album will be released in various formats including digital, CD, LP, Blu-ray, and exclusive color vinyl editions on 14 March 2025.[13] A premiere event for the album, presented with a full-length animated film directed by Miles Skarin, is scheduled for February 25, 2025, at the BFI IMAX in London.[14]
