Sukurat Aiyelabegan (born 21 January 2006) is a Nigerian female Table tennis player who is ranked 345 in the Women's Singles category in the International Table Tennis Federation ^[1]. Sukurat has participated in various tournaments at the national, regional, continental, and world championship levels, including both youth and senior stages, such as: World Junior Championship in Thailand (2019)^[2], World Cadet Championship in Poland (2019)^[3], All African Games Ghana (2024)^[4], African Cup Table Tennis Championships in Lagos (2022), WTT Contender Lagos (2023 & 2024) and WTT Youth Contender San Francisc24).

Education

Sukurat Aiyelabegan's educational journey commenced at Khadijah Memorial Group of Schools, Adeta, Ilorin. She subsequently attended Mandate Junior Secondary School, Ilorin, before completing her secondary education at Government Day Secondary School, Adewole Estate, Ilorin, Kwara State.

Currently, she is pursuing her undergraduate studies at Ekiti State University ^[5] in affiliation with Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, Directorate of Undergraduate Studies.

Early Career

Sukurat Aiyelabegan began playing table tennis at the age of 8 in 2014, following in the footsteps of her father, Kehinde Aiyelabegan, a former table tennis player and coach for the Kwara State Table Tennis team. Her table tennis career commenced in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria, under her father's guidance.

Sukurat won her first medal at the National School Sports Festival in 2015, claiming a her first Gold Medal. The following year, she also won a Gold Medal in the Girls' Singles event at the National Youth Games in Kwara, 2016.

Sukurat Aiyelabegan has participated and won various titles at both national, regional, continental, and world table tennis events, some of which include: Daniel Ford Youth Table Tennis Championship^[6], National Table Tennis Championship, All African Games, African Cup Table Tennis Championship, Aruna Table Tennis Championship, Renewed Hope National Championship, ITTF Junior & Cadet Table Tennis Championship, Chinese New Year Tournament, etc.
