Reinhard Stammer (born July 25, 1952) is a German contemporary artist recognized for his abstract expressionist works that delve into themes of spirituality, human emotion, and existentialism. His career spans several decades, with exhibitions across Europe and features on platforms such as Saatchi Art. Art historian Dr. Vöhringer has described Stammer as "an autodidact in the best sense of the word," highlighting the authenticity and originality of his self-taught artistic approach.[1]
Biography
[edit]Stammer was born in Glücksburg, Germany, on the Baltic Sea. His artistic journey began in childhood, with his first exhibition taking place in 1967 at the Orangery in Glücksburg.[2]
In his early thirties, Stammer founded the P.A.R.C. publishing house in Germany.[3] His exploration of Eastern philosophies, including Advaita and Buddhism, influenced the spiritual undertones of his works. In 2023, he opened his own gallery in Sineu, Mallorca, where he currently resides and works.[2]
Career
[edit]Stammer's works have been exhibited across Europe, including notable exhibitions at the Space Art Gallery in London, Retroavangarda in Poland,[4] and the New Barbizon Art Gallery.[5]
His art has been featured on platforms like Saatchi Art, where he was selected for the "Collector's Choice" collection.[1]
Art critic Janis Kirstein remarked that Stammer's works "seem to form a direct stream from his subconscious mind to the canvas surface, assaulting the viewer with the vinegar of turbulent agony and sweet recollections all at once."[1]
Artistic Style
[edit]Stammer’s art is characterized by vibrant colors, dynamic compositions, and symbolic motifs.[3] His themes often revolve around transformation, interconnectedness, and the human experience.[3]
