Reggie J Dovener (born 12 January 2010) is a campaigner, and Labour Party activist. He previously served as the Caerphilly County Borough Council Youth Forum Member for Education and Bedwas High School School Council Year 9 representative.

Dovener was born in Cardiff in South Wales. He is currently doing his GCSE's.

Education

Reggie J Dovener was born on the 12th January 2010[1] in Cardiff, and he was brought up in Caerphilly. He went to Graig y Rhacca Primary, Nursery & Community School and is currently educated at Bedwas High School.

Political activism

Dovener has posted about politics ever since he joined X (formerly known as Twitter) in June 2021, and in February 2024, he joined the UK Labour Party[2], he also joined Co-operative Party. Ever since, he has been a staunch opponent of Wes Streeting's proposed puberty blocker ban.

In the 2024 United Kingdom general election, he was an activist and canvassed in constituencies in South Wales.[3][4]

In March 2024, Dovener and 2 other Bedwas High Digital Leaders wrote a speech that Hefin David, MS delivered in the Senedd about mobile phone usage in school - a contentious issue.[5]

At the Caerphilly Labour Party Annual General Meeting in September 2024, he was elected as the Constituency Labour Party Youth Officer.[6]

On the 4th January 2024, he submitted his candidacy to be Pride in Labour's Communications Officer.[7]

Welsh Youth Parliament Elections

In 2024, Dovener announced his candidacy into the Welsh Youth Parliament. He has had an endorsement from Councillor Christine Bissex-Foster, Community Councillor Phil Rosser, Councillor Amanda McConnell, Councillor Chris Morgan, Councillor Jill Winslade and Councillor Elizabeth Aldworth.[8]

He lost the election to Maisie Powell.[9]
