About
[edit]PDX CONTEMPORARY ART was founded in 1996 by owner and director, Jane Beebe[1]. A commercial gallery, the space represents an assortment of artists—both local and international—whose work and practices stretch across a conceptual expanse and punctuate distinct visual parallels. The works shown at PDX encompass a range of mediums and subjects: landscape painting, abstract collage, soft sculptural work, ceramic, photography, figurative painting, assemblage, and more. Initially located in Portland's Pearl District, PDX relocated in 2022 and has since been nestled between the NW Industrial District and Slabtown.
Jeffry Mitchell's solo exhibition, I Have a Winter Friend[2], inaugurated the new space in November of 2021, prior to its formal opening. Upon the completion of the renovations, James Lavadour and Terry Toedtemeier's two-person exhibition in April of 2022, Calling Invisible Doctors[3], ushered in the new era of the gallery.
The gallery participates in domestic and global art fairs including, The Armory[4], VOLTA New York[5], Seattle Art Fair[6], and ZONAMACO FOTO[7], amongst many others.
