Myung Jae-hyun ( Korean: 명재현 Myung Jae-hyun , December 4, 2003 - ) [ Note 1 ] is a South Korean male singer and dancer. He is currently a member of the South Korean boy band BOYNEXTDOOR and serves as the leader. On May 30, 2023, BOYNEXTDOOR released their first single album " WHO! ". [ 2 ] [ 3 ]
Biography
Early life Myeong Jae-hyun was born in Daebang-dong, Dongjak-gu , Seoul , and his ancestry is from the Seosuk Myeong clan .
He had been a trainee since he was young, but later gave up training because of his good academic ability and resolutely flew to Chicago . He was discovered by YG Entertainment when he was in high school , and thus began his trainee life . [ 4 ] After entering YG, iKON 's BOBBY lent his studio to Jaehyun. Since then, Jaehyun has often stayed up all night and focused on his creations. As for the good relationship between the two, it can be seen from BOBBY's personal Instagram story before the group's public debut : "재현아가자 (Jaehyun, let's go)" [ 5 ]
During his first year of high school, Jaehyun began to produce his own songs. He wrote a song called "바다가보여 (See the Ocean)" based on his mother's wish to go to the beach. [ 6 ] Afterwards, KOZ Entertainment contacted Jaehyun and wanted to audition him. Jaehyun sang two songs he wrote himself, one of which was a rap song he wrote himself, and the other was a remake of " I Don't Want to Be You Anymore " by Strange Billie , and danced to " Come Through " by Gabrielle Wilson, Chris Brown , and "Womp Womp" by Valee . On May 30, 2023, ZICO formed BOYNEXTDOOR with Park Sung-ho , Lee Sang-hyuk, Myung Jae-hyun, Han Dong-min, Kim Dong-hyun, and Kim Woon-hak , and released their first single album " WHO! ". [ 8 ] [ 9 ] [ 10 ]
On September 4, 2023, they released their first mini album " WHY... " [ 11 ] [ 12 ] [ 13 ] [ 14 ] and on the same day, they aired their comeback show "BOYNEXTDOOR 2NIGHT" on M2. [ 15 ]
On January 16, 2024, the digital single "400 Years" was released. [ 16 ]
On April 15, 2024, the group released their second mini album HOW ?. [ 17 ] [ 18 ] [ 19 ]
On July 10, 2024, BOYNEXTDOOR released their first Japanese EP, AND ,. [ 20 ] [ 21 ]
On September 9, 2024, the sixtet came back with their third mini album "19.99"
On January 6, 2025, the group released their first digital single "IF I SAY, I LOVE YOU"
