Erik "EJ" Kurn, a producer originated, Houston, was murdered while running off Interstate 380 (Pennsylvania), on April 31st, 2022. Kurn was driving a BMW M5, when a unknown shooter left a Chrysler minivans (S) and shot 7 .40 S&W bullets at Kurn. Witnesses said Kurn ran to a White Chevrolet Malibu, then the car sped off. The shooter was seen running up to Kurn, before Kurn dropped his gun and was fatally shot twice in the back. 20 minutes after the shooting, Kurn was pronounced dead on the scene 50 minutes after the shooting. The shooter has still not been found.

Kurn was said to be killed due to gang related activity, Kurn was a member of the 18th Street Gang. Erik Kurn was born on November 9, 1996 in Abilene, Texas before moving to Houston when he was 7. He grew up listening to DJ Screw, and Paul Wall. In 2015, he made his account on SoundCloud which has now been deleted. In 2017, him and 2 other 18th Street members were arrested in a shootout, thankfully no one was hurt, but Kurn was sentenced to 1 year in Callahan County, Texas jail. In 2020, Kurn was grazed by a bullet after leaving Bar 5015 but wasn't seriously injured.
