Marcha Libertadora (English: Liberating March) was the national anthem of Gran Colombia from 1820 until its dissolution in 1831.

History

[edit]

Marcha Libertadora was composed by Zuliano Silverio Añez[1] for the triumpent entrance of Simon Bolivar to Santa Fe de Bogotá under the Liberator Army[1] after the Boyaca Battle in 1819.[2] At the independence celebration, this song was played and alternated with La vencedora in the celebrations.[1] Due to this, the song was then adopted in 1820 as the national anthem of Gran Colombia.
