The LUnatics are the student cheering section for the Liberty University football team as well as the men's and women's basketball teams.

the LU is capitalized to mark the affiliation to Liberty University and is a play on words from the word "lunatic"

The Lunatics cheer on the Flames from the bottom of the stands on both baselines under the baskets of Liberty Arena and from the student side of Williams Stadium. The "Bill" holds a rowdy crowd of 25,000 students and Liberty Arena holds about 4,000. The students are typically uniformly donned in red t-shirts, and the Lunatics student section is consistently sold out for Flames home games.
