Jean Coatanlem or Jehan Coetanlem, according to the then orthography (Coat an Lem means Wood of the jump in breton language ; Koat al lamm in modern breton), sir of Keraudy in Plouezoc'h, is a breton privateer born in Guimaëc near Morlaix around 1455. His nickname was "le Gouverneur des mers" (meaning "the Governor of the seas" in french) from his title of Portugal's flotilla amiral.
