Gothic Opera is an opera company based in London. It was founded in 2019 by Alice Usher, Charlotte Osborn and Béatrice de Larragoïti. Its objectives are to open opera to new audiences by resurfacing neglected operatic works with supernatural themes.[1][2]
Productions
[edit]Gothic Opera stages one production every Halloween and occasionally a summer production. It launched in 2019, with a production of Heinrich Marschner's Der Vampyr, which took place at the Old Church in Stoke Newington and the Asylum Chapel in Peckham, London.[3][4]
The company has produced four UK staged premieres: La nonne sanglante in 2021,[5] Le loup-garou and Le dernier sorcier in 2022[6] and Maria de Rudenz in 2024.[7]
