Gem Television, commonly referred to as Gem TV, is a Tamil-language television channel based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The channel broadcasts a mix of news and entertainment content. It was initially launched as a cable network and later transitioned to satellite broadcasting.

History

Gem TV began operations on January 1, 2021, under the leadership of N. Seethapathy, a businessman and journalist. The channel transitioned to satellite broadcasting via the GSAT-30 satellite at 83° East, utilizing the license of the Hindi-language channel Bada Khabar.[1]
