- Comment: The first source is from a book published in 1800, surely there are more up to date sources available. Theroadislong (talk) 13:13, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
Fluorous acid is a monobasic fluorine oxoacid classified as a Brønsted acid , since it gives hydrogen to any acceptor. It consists of two oxygen atoms , one fluorine atom and one hydrogen atom . The molecule of the fluorous acid is arranged as HOFO , therefore, that molecule is an exception to the rule, where the most negative atom is placed in the final part of the molecule. Because of its instability it is used as a catalyst in several reactions. Some chlorides of the fluorous acid are used as electrophilic cleaner .
