This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia. This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies. Declined by Mcmatter 5 months ago. |
- Comment: Candidates for local elected political office are not normally notable, and the subject does not appear to meet WP:GNG, having achieved "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Most citations are from routine reporting of local politics. Paul W (talk) 16:06, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: anything that is not properly referenced must be removed. This is not a campaign website it is an encyclopedia. See WP:NPOL for more information on what make a politician notable by our standards. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 02:46, 23 February 2024 (UTC)

Daryl Michael Simpson (born 10 November 1982) is a former film industry worker now active in Michigan politics.
Early life
[edit]Simpson was born in Flint. He worked in the film industry from 2009 to 2012 as an assistant director, actor and eventually a sound mixer in the sound department,[1] until film tax incentives were cut in 2015 by Governor Rick Snyder.[2] In 2011, Simpson founded the Hemphill Wellness Center, a medical marijuana dispensary in Burton, Michigan (2011-2016).[3][4]
Political career
[edit]Davison City Council and Planning Commission
[edit]Simpson was nominated to be the Natural Law Party candidate in the 2022 Michigan gubernatorial election.[5] He became a Republican Delegate in mid 2022.
Simpson was appointed to the Davison, Michigan City Council and Planning Commission in 2023.[6][7][8]
In October 2023, the Genesee County Commissioners decided to close all six out-county courts (Davison, Grand Blanc, Flushing, Fenton, Mt. Morris and Burton) and move the judges to downtown Flint. This decision was made without the judges or constituents input or knowledge beforehand.[9][10][11] The Davison City Council drafted a resolution showing their support for the judges and their pending litigation seeking to stop the commissioners. Simpson read the resolution at the Board of Commissioners meeting on November 15th, 2023 where he announced his candidacy for 9th district Commissioner.[12]
In 2024, he announced his candidacy for 9th District Genesee County Commissioner as a Republican, focusing on transparency and community engagement.[13][14]
