A blida is a type of glass commonly used for drinking champagne.
Description
[edit]The blida is a small glass with a capacity of about 7 to 8 centiliters, allowing for serving between 8 and 10 people per bottle.
Origin
[edit]This glass, manufactured in Reims, was exported to Blida, a city in northern Algeria, where it was used for serving mint tea. Following the collapse of the market in the context of Algeria's decolonization, champagne houses decided to utilize the significant stocks that had accumulated and take advantage of the benefits of this small, sturdy glass, which was easily transportable.[1]
