Anubis is a upcoming American computer-animated comedy adventure film based on the Bruce Zwick's novel The Anubis Tapestry produced by Sony Pictures Animation, which was produced by Daron Nefcy.
Premise
[edit]Chance Henry goes to an underworld of the Egyptian Kingdom to save his father from the curse of the mummy.
Production
[edit]In 2008, Blue Sky Studios had acquired the copyright rights to adapt it.[1]
Cancelled
[edit]In 2021, before Disney confirmed that it would close Blue Sky Studios forever, along with the projects that the animation studio already had in mind; The movie based on the book had already been supposedly canceled for unknown reasons. It is said that due to creative differences or economic problems.[2]
Revival by Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation
[edit]In September 2024, it was announced that Columbia Pictures had picked up Anubis earlier in the year, and would be releasing on its theatrically service in 2026. Sony Pictures Animation was announced as the project's animation partner producers. Daron Nefcy
Release
[edit]On May 16, 2013, the film was set to be released on July 15, 2016, at first,[3] and among the directors who were considered to direct the film there had been Chris Wedge or Michael Thurmeier, but from one moment to the next its release date was delayed and it was replaced by Ice Age: Collision Course (2016), directed by the aforementioned M. Thurmeier, and had been delayed to March 2018, which Fox removed the movie from their release schedule on June 30, 2017.[4]
