Dominique Roux (born 1 May 1943 in Gap, in the Hautes-Alpes) is a French academic and business leader, member of the Cercle des économistes.[1]

Dominique Roux was born into a lower-middle-class family. He was the son of a hosier from Gap, taken prisoner and sent to camps by Germany during the World War I. His grandfather had a small peddling business. Dominique Roux had seven brothers and sisters. For his higher education, Dominique Roux moved to Paris. He enrolled at the Sorbonne in economics. He studied with teacher Raymond Barre. He holds a PhD in economics and a PhD in management. He is an agrégé in economics and management.[2]

He is the father of the French politician Valérie Pécresse.[3]

Career

He spent his career at HEC Paris and at Paris Dauphine University, where he has been a professor since 1982 after having spent time at the University of Burgundy. He is co-creator and director of the Master in Telecoms and Media Management (Master 226) "Telecommunications and New Media Management" at Dauphine, director of the Masters in Management Sciences and director of a research center, the Economic and Social Research Group (GRES).[4]

He also teaches at Sciences Po. He teaches as part of the economic law specialization of the Sciences Po diploma (telecommunications regulation law and economics course). He founded and has directed since 2015 the Masters in Digital Management at ICN Business School on the Paris campus.[5]

He is also the educational director of the Faculty of Management at the University of the Lagoons in Abidjan, where he teaches management.[6]

Other

Member of the Board of the Autorité de Régulation des Communications Électroniques, des Postes et de la Distribution de la Presse from 1997 to 2005, he was then appointed in 2006 by the President of the French Republic as a member of the strategic committee on the television of the future with the government. He was a director of RFO (as a representative of the State).[7]

From 2007 to 2014 he chaired Bolloré Telecom. From 2015 to 2021 he chaired the board of directors of the French subsidiary of the Global Financial group.[8]

He was the president of the Signal Spam association, and is a director of the company 1000mercis (specializing in email marketing).[9]
