Desperate Mrs. Seonju (Korean친절한 선주씨) is an ongoing South Korean television series starring Shim Yi-young in the title role, along with Song Chang-eui, Choi Jung-yoon, and Jung Young-seop. It premiered on MBC TV on November 18, 2024, and airs every Monday to Friday at 19:05 (KST).[4]

Synopsis

Desperate Mrs. Seonju is a human drama about the life remodeling of a woman named Seon-ju who tries to break up a bad marriage and build a 'new' house to start anew.

Development

Desperate Mrs. Seonju was developed under the working title, The Kind Miss Seon-ju, is planned by Jang Jae-hoon, written by Seo Jung, and co-directed by Kim Heung-dong, who previously directed Everybody Say Kimchi (2014), and Kang Tae-heum, who previously directed The Third Marriage (2023–2024). It is produced by MBC C&I.[2]

Casting

Shim Yi-young had been cast as the lead for the series on June 28, 2024.[10] Shim had confirmed her appearance on August 8.[11] On September 10, Song Chang-eui had been cast and confirmed his appearance.[12] On September 24, Choi Jung-yoon had confirmed her appearance.[13] On October 8, it was announced the news of a confirmed lead casting lineup that included actors Shim, Song, Choi, and Jung Young-seop.[5]
