There are so many. Nearly all here are in Vancouver, only one (on first notice) is in Vancouver. Title maybe could be "notable hotels, resorts and lodges" due to variation in name and style. The following is a bulleted list of redlinks, all worth articles for four or five star status, architectural or historical interest; I note on List of hotels it says "which are covered in multiple reliable publications" re all of these, that should be viable in all cases though finding/locating sources in many cases may be problematic. Many also feature as entertainment venues and bars, historically or current, or as tourist attractions (past or present). I'll leave Whistler for now, but the Delta and the Chateau Whistler definitely qualify; there are so many four and five stars there it really behooves the RMOW have its own list/category.

  • Hotel Victoria (Lillooet), Lillooet (aka the Lillooet Hotel, original constructed in 1874 by Dan Hurley, who needs an article for various reasons, destroyed by fire c.1979, one standing today is a modern reconstruction along the old design
  • Walhachin Hotel, Walhachin, BC. Five star in its day; derelict now
  • Yale Hotel would be a disambiguation, as there is the famous blues bar in Vancouver and others of this name in many BC towns, Chilliwack and Grand Forks come to mind but notability yet to be determined.
  • Ritz Hotel (Vancouver) (sigh, I miss this place)
  • Royal Towers Hotel, New Westminster, landmark and historical interest
  • Georgian Towers Hotel, Vancouver, now an apartment building
  • Queen Charlotte Hotel, Vancouver, architectural interest and five-star in its day, now a apartments; notable clientele in its day, like so many
  • Devonshire Hotel, Vancouver (where the HSBC on Georgis is now)
  • Tyax Mountain Lake Resort, near Gold Bridge; largest log structure built to date, at the time of opening, in 20th Century Canada
  • Alexandra Lodge, just north of Spuzzum
  • Plaza Hotel (Kamloops), architectural interest and long-time landmark
  • Coldwater Hotel, Merritt (architectural interest and historically notable also)
  • Park Royal Hotel, West Vancouver (architectural and historical interest)
  • Biltmore Hotel (Vancouver), Vancouver (notable skyline landmark also historical interest and major entertainment venue). Not part of the Bowman-Biltmore chain, which has an article; built by Herb Capozzi I think, who should already have an article
  • Waldorf Hotel (Vancouver), architectural interest, heritage item also, major entertainment venue
  • Painters Lodge, up coast somewhere, famed Hollywood retreat, five-star
  • Yellow Point Lodge, near Nanaimo
  • Mines Hotel, historically notable, its bar was famous in the continental mining industry as "the Main Stope", 1st and 2nd incarnations were of architectural interest, the third not at all, but still important in the mining industry, destroyed by furnace explosion in the early '80s; the first two were were in "mountain gothic" of very fine timberwork, built by certain local historical figures who do not yet have articles; they also built:
  • Little Gun Lake Lodge, still standing as a private residence, operated as a hotel in the '80s, originally built to serve investors and dignitaries visiting the Bridge River gold mines by Big Bill Davidson, founder of Minto City, British Columbia, also the Minto City Hotel there, which later was moved to become the Gold Bridge Hotel.
  • Lytton Hotel, historical and architectural interest
  • Incola Hotel, architectural and historical interest, also a CPR Hotel, since destroyed by fire (impressive)
  • Canyon House, aka the North Bend Hotel, architectural and historical interest, also a CPR hotel
  • Sicamous Hotel, Sicamous, lakeside CPR hotel attached to station, since destroyed by fire; architectural interest and all CPR hotels are notable IMO
  • Clinton Hotel, architectural and historical interest, destroyed by fire in the 1980s, last of the old-style small town hotels in that region, may date to the days of the Cariboo Road
  • roadhouses of the Cariboo Road; there are many; Cottonwood House is already partly written, another was the Australian Ranch at Australian, British Columbia.
  • North Burnaby Inn, former entertainment venue (not just strippers...) and notable as the location of the casino bid from Dimitrios Pilarinos that figure in the Casinogate scandal re Premier Glen Clark. Originally the Admiral Hotel.
  • Fantasy Gardens had a hotel, maybe still does
  • Rainbow Lodge, Whistler, the most notable of the many lodges along the PGE (BC Rail/CN line)
  • Craig Lodge, Lillooet, Five-star in its day, destroyed by fire since.
  • Lonsdale Quay and Westminter Quay have hotels, not sure of their names; architectural interest and major landmarks
  • various hotels with notable crime connections, the Turf Hotel and "the Del" in Surrey, the Mr Sport on Kingsway in Vancouver, the Cecil Hotel and others

The list is very long, and not that I or anyone am going to get to writing these articls anytime soon, I just find that the Category:Hotels in British Columbia is very Vancouver-centric, and doesn't take into account the role of various hostelries and hoteliers in BC history, which was often very important. There's more that already come to mind, e.g. the Phoenix Hotel in Phoenix, a Rattenbury building, and the Newport Hotel in Squamish, which was the first major building in that town and almost the namesake of the town, which was almost called "Newport". I'd almost start this list if so many were not going to be redlinks. I have things to do, more later when I get a chance.Skookum1 (talk) 04:54, 9 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
