The Republic of China is not a "country." It is not listed on the US State Department's list of independent countries at http://www.state.gov/s/inr/rls/4250.htm Moreover, needless to say, it is not recognized as a country by over 170 internationally recognized sovereign nations. It is not a member of the UN. Arguably, the ROC on Taiwan is a government in exile.

Hence, the Republic of China should be deleted from this page. Perhaps it can be added to another page, such as "Conscription by territorial entity." However, I am not making such a change now, since I feel there may be the need for some discussion among posters interested in the ROC's legal situation.
