Years of the 19th century in Baden. Dating from 1112, the Margraviate of Baden was reunified in 1771 and in 1803 became the Electorate of Baden. In 1806 it became the sovereign Grand Duchy of Baden which joined the German Empire in 1871 and became the Republic of Baden in 1918. After World War II it became the West German state of South Baden which merged in 1952 to form the modern German state of Baden-Württemberg.
