Bogura Cantonment Public School and College (Bengali: বগুড়া ক্যান্টনমেন্ট পাবলিক স্কুল ও কলেজ) is an educational institution located at Shajahanpur upazila of Bogura district in Bangladesh. It was established in 1979 by the then President of Bangladesh, Ziaur Rahman.[1]

As of 2024, it has a student body of 6130. It was identified as one of the top institutions under Rajshahi Education Board several times in the previous years.[2][3][4][5] Former Chief Patron of the institution, Major General Nazmul Hasan, also the former General Officer Commanding of the 11th infantry division of the Bangladesh Army, described it as "The premier educational institution of excellence in North Bengal."[6]

History

[edit]

In order to provide up-to-date education to the children of the army personnel working inside the cantonment, Bogura Cantonment Public School and College was established in 1979 at Bogura Cantonment of Bogura district. The then President of Bangladesh, Ziaur Rahman laid the foundation stone of the institution.

As the cantonments are located far away from the main city, the Bangladesh Army has to take such steps. In it’s first years, the institution had provided education in Primary and Secondary levels only. Then it was upgraded to Higher Secondary level in 1984. It is one of the educational institutions established and managed by the Bangladesh Army. At present, it is a famous and reputed educational institution in the Northern Bangladesh.

For the convenience of conducting educational activities, the classes of the institution have been divided into two shifts, Morning and Day. Nursery to 5th classes are included in the Morning shift and 6th to 10th classes are included in the Day shift. Classes are conducted in Morning shift from 8:00 am to 10:50 am and in Day shift from 11:00 am to 3:30 pm. In the college wing, classes are conducted in one shift from 9:10 am to 1:50 pm. Each shift, class and section is managed under the supervision of a Vice-Principal, an In-charge and a Class Teacher respectively. The classrooms of the institute have been converted into full multimedia classrooms to ensure modern teaching and enhance learning activities of the students. In addition to this, there is also high definition sound system in every classroom, which helps to organise daily assembly in the classrooms in any special situation and giving any notice to all classrooms simultaneously.
