Beau Atkinson is an American college football defensive end for the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Early life

Atkinson attended Leesville Road High School in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was rated as a four-star recruit and held offers from schools such as Appalachian State, Miami, Michigan, NC State, North Carolina, Penn State, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.[1][2] Ultimately, Atkinson committed to play college football for the North Carolina Tar Heels.[3][4]

College career

During his first two collegiate seasons in 2022 and 2023, Atkinson appeared in 13 games and notched 19 tackles with four and a half being for a loss, three and a half sacks, and a forced fumble.[5][6][7] In week ten of the 2024 season, he had a breakout game notching four and a half tackles for a loss, and three and a half sacks, as he helped the Tar Heels beat Florida State.[8] For his performance, Atkinson was named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) defensive lineman of the week.[9]
