Aron Wieder is an American politician, of the Democratic Party. He defeated incumbent John W. McGowan in the 2024 New York State Assembly election for New York's 97th State Assembly district. He will assume office on January 1, 2025.[2][3][4] Wieder is a follower of the Belz dynasty of Hasidic Judaism, and a graduate of Brooklyn's Machzikei Hadas Yeshiva.[5] He resides in Spring Valley.[5] He has served as a member of the Rockland County Legislature since 2011.[1] He was elected to the board of East Ramapo Central School District in 2008, serving until 2011, becoming during his term its Vice-President and then President.[1]
