Personal life
[edit]Arifin was married to Arpita Samaddar who is a fashion designer from India and works for a multinational company in Dhaka.[17] July 31, 2024, Arifin Shuvoo announced his separation from Arpita Samaddar, bringing an end to their nine-year marriage. Shuvoo shared the news on his official Facebook page, stating, "Despite my reluctance and hesitancy to share anything personal in this situation, I believe the moment is appropriate to inform you all that Arpita and I have come to the understanding that we are compatible with each other as friends but not life partners. We have reached this decision on July 20 that we will live the rest of our lives according to our own terms but also will keep this friendship alive."[18]
On September 4, 2024, Rajuk announced the decision to cancel the plot allocated to Shuvoo under a reserved quota. Rajuk Chairman Major General Siddikur Rahman Sarkar confirmed the move as part of a broader initiative to revoke plots granted through political considerations from the former Prime Minister's office. Shuvoo had been allocated a 10-katha plot in the Purbachal New Town Project during a board meeting on November 27, 2023. Although he accepted the plot by paying the required fee, he was unable to register it in time. Following the ouster of the Awami League government on August 5, Rajuk reviewed politically motivated land allocations over the past 15 years, resulting in the decision to revoke Shuvoo's plot.[19]
