The Cardinal were led by 38th-year head coach Tara VanDerveer, and played their home games at Maples Pavilion as members of the Pac-12 Conference. They finished the season at 30–6, 15–3 in Pac-12 play to win the regular season championship. As a No. 1 seed in the Pac-12 Tournament, they defeated California in the quarterfinals and Oregon State in the semifinals before losing to USC in the championship.
