Speedy deletion of Image:IMG 2528b.jpg

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Image:IMG 2528b.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:IMG 2528b.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Help

[edit]
Moved from Talk:Scott Mallon
 – Vanjagenije (talk) 11:01, 5 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have links to several hundred articles written by me for the publications I listed and while I admit I am certainly no "notable" superstar, in Southeast Asia I am quite a well known journalist, photographer and YouTube personality who has helped countless viewers of my site. My point is just how notable do I need to be to the people around the world? Please let me know anything you think I can or should do to add to the chance of the biography being included in Wikipedia. Thank you.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Scottmallon (talkcontribs) 10:55, 4 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Scottmallon: Well, first of all, you have to understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a means of self-promotion. For that reason, Wikipedia strongly discourages writing WP:autobiographies. Autobiographies are allowed only in some rare cases, and only when previously discussed with other editors. Also, Wikipedia only accepts articles about subjects that are notable enough. Wikipedia has its own definition of WP:NOTABILITY: In Wikipedia, a subject is considered notable if there are several reliable, independent sources that significantly discuss the subject (see: WP:42). That means that you are notable if there are books, newspaper articles, etc. written by a person not connected to you in any way (independent) that significantly discuss your life and work. But, even in that case, it is expected that you do not write the article about yourself, but let other people write it because of the WP:NEUTRALITY. Scottmallon This article is an orphan, as no other articles link to it. Please introduce links to this page from related articles; try the Find link tool for suggestions. (January 2016)
I added 6 links and will continue adding. Why does the above sentence state their are no links from related articles when all of these links are to related articles? Am I missing something?.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Scottmallon (talkcontribs) 22:38, 4 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Scottmallon: That is because there are indeed no links from other articles to this article (see: [1]). The article is WP:ORPHAN. By the way, did you read my post to you above? And, yes, you have to start signing your talk page posts with four tildes ad the end (like this: ~~~~, see: WP:SIGNATURE). Vanjagenije (talk) 22:55, 4 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
