Welcome
BIENVENUE!
Hello, I'm Jared and I live in Connecticut, United States. I am a high school student interested in pursuing a math- or science-related field.
I began editing Wikipedia on December 13, 2005; my edit count didn't start rolling, however, until early February of the next year.
I am mostly interested in editing Olympics-related articles, as I have made extensive edits in that field. I'm not so sure why, though, because I wasn't nearly as interested in the Games before I became a Wikipedian. Maybe it's just the "passion of the games." I have also extended my interest in the Olympics to many other multi-sport events like the Pan American Games, the FINA World Championships, etc.
In addition to sports pages, I like working in the Wikipedia namespace. There, I'll work on cleanup tasks, Wikiprojects, and give my input into various discussions. Occasionally, I'll do some lengthy work on Portals and Templates.
Away from Wikipedia (yes, I have a life outside of Wikipedia), I play the saxophone and the piano, the latter of which I play quite well. I enjoy reading Popular Science articles about technology and space science. Photography, while not my forte, is one of my favorite pastimes.
Other random information about me includes that I am a loyal Patriots and Red Sox fan, I think President Bush is doing and has done a fine job as leader of my country, I have a yellow lab and two cats, I make high honors in school, je peux parler français (un peu)... (the list goes on)
Feel free to make any edits to this page that will make is aesthetically better! I am always willing to help out too, so PLEASE don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page or through e-mail!
Contributions
I have listed below the following contributions to Wikipedia because, at the time, I felt that they were worth noting. Those in bold type were articles that I created from scratch (or stub); see this page for an explanation of the different bullets below.
Monopoly: The Card Game I created this page from scratch; it was my first major publication on Wikipedia.
Olympics I made extensive additions, edits, fixes, and cleanups to these pages.
- Olympics Portal I created this portal and have been maintaining it ever since.
- Olympic conventions I created this series of debates which will now help out when deciding how Olympic articles will be structured.
- Individual Games Pages Made these pages uniform.
- Along with EWS23, I re-wrote the first sentence of each Olympic Games page to make them the same.
- Made the brief tables on each games page the uniform style and with uniform links to the real pages at the bottom.
- Along with EWS23, I re-wrote the first sentence of each Olympic Games page to make them the same.
CT State Highway pages I edited and added infoboxes and route signs to these pages.
Route 20 (Connecticut) I created this page from my own knowlege of the road and some other sources online.
Cities in MA I added infoboxes and city seals to many of these articles.
Le Musée du Louvre I translated the "Le Louvre-Lens" section from the French version to the English one.
Flying Horses Carousel I created this page myself from my own knowledge and with help from external links.
Pan American Games, FINA World Championships, World Figure Skating Championships, World Gymnastics Championships, World Speed Skating Championships, World Curling Championships I restructured these pages, relinked and relocated some of them and their sub-pages, and added navigation boxes to the bottom of each one.
North America Portal I gave this portal the initial structure that it needed to be a true portal. I have been maintaining it ever since.
Connecticut Academic Performance Test This page I made from my own knowlegdge on the subject (as I just took the test) and the help of a few sources.
Tallest structures in Paris This page was sort of a mess when I came across it. I fixed up the table nicely and fixed up the wording of much of the page to bring it up to featured list status.
Will Shade Totally from other sources. I had no clue who he was when I made the article. I did it as a reward board task, for which I made 20 bucks.
2012 Summer Olympics bids Fixed it up and got it to GA status.
